Personal run coaching
Training is hard.
Coaching makes it simple.
Decisions, decisions. How many miles per week will you need for your half marathon? You didn't sleep well, so should you still run your workout or do an easy run today? Does the tightness in your hamstring mean you need to rest? How do you know what pace you should be running?
Training can feel hard before you even put your running shoes on. At first, you may not feel like you have the knowledge to progress safely. And even when you’re more experienced, it's tricky to figure out the right ingredients to progress to the next level without risking injury or burnout. Not to mention how exhausting it is just to decide what to do in your training each day!
That’s where coaching comes in. I take the planning off your plate so that running becomes something you can look forward to! As your coach, I am able to step back and take an objective look at your training, to guide you in a way that suits your goals, routines, and experience.

“Now when I go for a run, I know exactly what I’m doing and why.”
How I coach and what's important to me:
COMMUNICATION
Everything starts with good communication. I expect my athletes to share notes about their workouts and keep me updated when things change. The better you communicate how you’re feeling on the run and what’s going on in your health and in your life, the better I can support you. True personalization of your training and adapting to changing needs requires that we stay in touch.
TRUST & HONESTY
At its core, effective coaching is about building trust and honesty that go both ways. My communication style is kind, positive and encouraging — but I’m honest and direct if I see a need to adjust your plan or reassess your goal. When that happens, we re-evaluate and figure it out together.
BALANCED WELLNESS
For the typical runner I work with, finding a healthy balance is a must. Training well and staying healthy through midlife requires keeping easy runs easy, getting enough recovery, and adding some strength training and mobility work. We’ll talk about how to establish a balanced routine that fits your life, and I’ll show you how to adjust your running when life stress is high.
TRAINING JUST ENOUGH
My goal is to help you find the sweet spot for training hard enough to reach your goals, but not so hard that it stops being enjoyable or puts you at risk of injury. I’m clear about the purpose of every run in your plan, and I love sharing the science behind training if you want to learn.

“Training with Heini has brought so much joy to my life. It revitalized my relationship with running and my health and taught me that I can create new goals beyond meeting a certain pace.”

Melissa, Michigan
“I have always kind of 'winged it' in training for different races, but with Heini’s incredible guidance, I had the best 4 months of running that I have ever had!”
Erica, Oregon
“Heini creates a low-pressure environment that leads to surprisingly good results! This year, I went from barely being able to run 5 minutes to running a 10K. She balances expectations with empathy.”
Anna, New York

How it works:
1
We have an in-depth conversation about your running goals, coaching needs and lifestyle so I understand your future vision, challenges, work and family schedules, and any injury concerns.
2
I’ll create a 100% custom online training plan that gives you all your workouts and guidelines for completing them. You sync it with your running watch or app to share your workout data.
3
You leave workout notes in the app after every run, and I’ll give you feedback and guidance based on the data and what you share. You can reach out with your questions any time.
4
We regularly review your training, progress, and goals, and adjust the plan as often as we need to. Our frequent check-ins keep us on the same page and on track.
Get started in 3 simple steps:
