Got questions?

How will I know which coaching program is right for me?

You’ll find training plans and running programs for a range of budgets, personalities and experience levels. My programs are flexible, responsive, and mostly very customizable.

Coaching options include:

  • Run club membership only
  • Run club membership + custom coaching
  • Run club membership + training plan
  • Fully customized personal coaching

I’m always happy to chat through the options if you need guidance! Getting on a call will also help us both determine if working together feels like a good fit. Coaches are all different, and you need to find one you feel comfortable with.

Do you offer a trial or guarantee?

When you join our members’ community, you get to try us for 30 days. You get instant access to all the content, resources and chat spaces, so you get a chance to see if it's what you're looking for.

Looking for a guaranteed result? A personalized training plan is the fastest road to success, but I cannot guarantee that you’ll hit a specific time or that you will never get injured again. What I can promise you is that if you follow your training plan, put in the effort to do the physical work as well as to understand the principles behind it, and communicate when you face obstacles, you WILL get stronger and running WILL get easier. Commit to the process and you’ll see results.

Do you work with complete beginners?

Yes! We were all beginners once, and the right kind of support and guidance in those early days of running is so important. As a beginner (or if you’re returning to running after a long break and starting over), you have a couple of options to choose from.

Self-motivated beginners can start with a personalized training plan within our online community. You’ll get started with a smart training routine, which you can then build on when you’re ready. If you have injury concerns or want a lot of customization or extra accountability, you can also sign up for personal coaching as a complete beginner — no prior experience is required.

Who am I coached by?
Me, Coach Heini, the founder and owner of Elements Running Education. There is no team of coaches you get handed over to — you’ll know right from the start exactly who you’ll be working with! I also manage the Run Empowered online community myself, so you’ll get the same advice and expertise whichever level of coaching you choose.

Where do I access the online run club?

Our Run Empowered community and run club lives on the Circle community platform, which is simple to navigate and free of distractions and ads. You’ll be able to access it on your web browser or an iOS/Android app.

The community is much more than a simple chat group. We have different spaces for conversation, coaching, recommendations and resources, making it very easy for you to find what you’re looking for.

What's the time commitment?

It depends on your goals and your capacity.

Community

Our run club and community is a very flexible option, though as with most things, you get out what you put into it. Some members stop by to contribute to conversations as part of their morning or lunchtime routine; others check for updates weekly. You could use it as a reference resource when you need something specific, post your training questions when you have them, or it could be a weekly accountability tool. For support and motivation, we’ve noticed that the more you share in the community the more support you get — because we get to know you.

One-on-one coaching

As for personal run training, it’s custom-built for you. I’ll write your training plan based on your schedule and your goals — we’ll chat about what’s realistic for you to fit in, balanced with what’s necessary to reach your goal. In addition to your training, you’re expected to share brief notes about every workout with me, and communicate when things change. We'll also schedule check-in calls to chat about your progress and review your goals whenever you move to a new phase of training, your training focus changes, or you have any issues you want to discuss.

Do you offer coaching in person?

I have a few options in my local area in Oregon. If you’re a personal coaching client and living in the SW Portland Metro area (Tigard, Tualatin, Beaverton, Sherwood, Wilsonville, Lake Oswego or SW Portland) we can have our check-in meetings in person if schedules permit. I love sitting down for coffee and chatting face to face!

I also offer in-person running technique assessments in this same area, with coaching on running form, drills, and appropriate stability, mobility and gait retraining.

Additionally, I am available to run workshops and clinics for your group or run club, and to provide support for corporate wellness events. My areas of expertise include running technique, safe and healthy training principles, speedwork and soft tissue self-care. If that's something you'd like to discuss, I would love to hear from you!
