Health coaching for runners

"I was looking for consistency and accountability but gained so much more than that!"

You shouldn’t separate your health from your running. You are a whole, complex person — not just a runner on a training plan. Your energy, recovery, hormones, stress, nutrition, and mindset all shape how you train and how you feel doing it. And if you’re not feeling well, you’re not training well.

Health coaching supports you in building habits and systems around:

  • Nutrition and fueling

  • Sleep and recovery

  • Stress and nervous system regulation

  • Sustainable training and life routines

  • Managing chronic or complex health conditions alongside running

When the balance is off:

You have a solid training plan, but you keep missing workouts — and it’s frustrating, because it’s not a motivation problem. Your weeks just don’t support your training the way you need them to.

You’re dealing with IBS, SIBO, or food sensitivities and feel like you have to choose between fueling your training and feeling well.

You’re noticing new shifts in energy, motivation, body composition or resilience. It feels like you’re constantly adjusting, yet running still feels harder than it should.

You start strong with new habits like strength work, better sleep or more intentional fueling (and have been known to try and change all of them at the same time) — but a few weeks in, your enthusiasm fades and you’re tired of starting over.

You feel like you’re always reacting, catching up, or feeling one step behind, as your nervous system struggles with the overwhelm.

A more integrated approach

Rather than looking at running in isolation, we explore how your health, habits, and lifestyle support — or limit! — your training.

Through my experience in running, background in massage therapy, and training in the root cause approach of functional medicine, I offer a unique perspective and ability to support you as a runner and in the other roles you have in your life.

When you work with me, you get one coach who understands both:

  • the demands of running and training;

  • the deeper layers of health, behavior change, and the lifestyle factors that impact our wellness.

I know that your goal isn’t to do more or to keep gathering more information; it’s to feel more capable, consistent, and balanced in your running and your life.

Who is health coaching for?

You might benefit from the personalized support of health coaching if:

You’re managing digestive issues or dietary restrictions and need a way to fuel your running without triggering symptoms. I have a special interest in IBS and SIBO, and I’m familiar with many therapeutic eating plans.

You’re navigating a chronic condition or hormonal shifts and want your training to work with your health — not against it.

You want more structure and accountability to stay consistent with habits like proper fueling, intentional recovery, or strength training.

You struggle with focus, follow-through, or motivation and want support creating systems that actually stick.

I offer health coaching both as a standalone service and as an add-on to my run coaching.

How is this different from run coaching?

Run coaching and health coaching work beautifully together, but they serve different roles. When I’m wearing my health coaching hat, my approach is different from when I’m acting as your running coach.

IN RUN COACHING:

  • We focus on training plans, workouts, mindset, and race preparation.

  • You get structured guidance, advice, and feedback.

  • I step in as the expert on training, assessing what’s needed and recommending the best course of action to reach or modify your goals.

IN HEALTH COACHING:

  • We focus on your habits, behaviors, and overall well-being.

  • You set the direction based on what matters most to you.

  • I’m a partner in the conversation, gently guiding you through reflection, questions, and active listening.

  • You are the decision-maker; my role is to help you discover the skills and strengths you already have so you can build habits and systems that fit your life.
