Women Run PDX
If you're thinking about running the Portland Half Marathon this fall, the Women Run PDX training group is here to help you make it happen! Whether you’re a newer runner tackling 13.1 miles for the first time or a more experienced runner looking for extra support, structure and community, this program is designed for you.

Women Run PDX: Your Training Team for the Portland Half Marathon
Led by RRCA-certified running coaches Heini Tallent and Nikki Mueller, Women Run PDX is a 13-week women's training program focused on preparing you for the Portland Half Marathon on Sunday, October 5th. You'll get a detailed training plan, expert coaching, and the encouragement of an amazing community of women runners — all working toward the same goal. Together, we'll help you get race-day ready and have a lot of fun doing it!

What's included in the program?
-
Training plan: You’ll get your pick of two training plans that we have custom-written for this program. One is a simple distance plan for those coming back to running or training for their first half marathon; the other has a little more mileage and speedwork included for those with time goals. Both include some flexibility so you can find just the right fit for your schedule and race goals.
-
Two weekly group sessions: We meet as a group twice every week: Tuesday evenings at a SW Portland track for a structured workout, and Saturday mornings at the waterfront for a long run.
-
WhatsApp group chat: Share your training week, stay connected with your teammates, and chat about all things running in our WhatsApp group. This is what community is all about!
-
Expert coaching and training guidance: Your coaches will be by your side throughout the program. You'll learn about topics like self-care and stretching, strength training and cross-training, running form, hydration, nutrition, recovery, pacing, race strategy, and more.
-
Team discount on your entry to the Portland Half Marathon: Race registration is not included in this training program; join our team by registering through this link.
-
Most importantly, a running community and new friendships with unlimited possibilities!
When does training start?
We will kick off our program on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025.
How much does this program cost?
$250 for 13 weeks of expert coaching and structured training (a total of 25 coached training sessions), not to mention community and the potential of finding some new BRFs — Best Running Friends!
Is this program the right fit for me?
We know that no running group can be everything to everyone, and we're committed to building a community that feels welcoming, motivating, and a great fit for those who join us. Here's what we expect of our runners upon signing up.
-
This is a women’s training group (sorry boys!). We welcome all women and gender identities who feel that a women's group is the right fit for them.
-
When training begins, you need to be capable of running comfortably for an hour (or at least 5 miles) and already used to running a minimum of 10-12 miles per week.
-
We offer two pace groups on our Saturday long runs, for easy paces ranging within 10-12 minutes per mile.
-
You should expect to meet with us as a group on Tuesday evenings (around 6pm) at a SW Portland track and Saturday mornings (around 7am) at the waterfront.
-
Lastly, and most importantly, we want ladies who are ready to have fun and meet up in a non-competitive and supportive environment!

This is just what I need! How do I sign up?
