Sustainable performance coaching

We're doing some work here -
page updates coming soon!

While we work on this, you can compare coaching plans or schedule an introductory call to get the ball rolling!

Training can feel exhausting before you even put your running shoes on. You're faced with so many decisions about how to run and doubts about whether you’re doing it right. Training plans from a website or AI tool are not unique to your needs, and you don’t have a reliable source you can ask when questions come up.

That’s where personalized coaching comes in. I take the planning off your plate so that you can focus on the running! As your coach, I am able to take an informed, objective look at your training and guide you in a way that suits your individual needs.

You know what you want to accomplish. I’ll take the guesswork out of how to get there.

“I am thankful to have learned how to train more effectively and keep myself from getting injured. Some days, I feel like running is as easy as it was when I was younger.”

A personalized plan built around your actual life

Most standard training plans start with a race goal at the end, and work backwards to dictate how many miles are needed each week to hit that goal. There’s a fundamental problem with that if your body responds to training differently or your busy life needs a slower or more adjustable approach.

Your training plan needs to fit the hours and energy you actually have available — not an imaginary life that doesn’t have the commitments and challenges of the season you’re in!

Your age, training experience, stress levels, recovery habits, workload and life circumstances all influence how much training you can absorb. If your nervous system is sensitive, you’re working your way back from injury, or you have a highly unpredictable weekly schedule, your training needs to reflect that.

I don’t build training plans for goals without context. I build training around your real life.

When your training prioritizes your wellbeing, and your schedule and energy support your training, you’ll make more predictable progress — and enjoy running more!

What you get:

A training plan designed for your goals and running experience

Your running week is mapped out with the right balance of easy running, workouts, long runs, and recovery to keep you moving forward towards your goals. No two plans look the same.

Regular adjustments around real life

Your plan can change when life changes, as often as is necessary. And when your training shows you’re ready for more, I’ll help you safely progress to the next level.

Workout guidance and feedback

You understand the purpose of each workout, how hard it should feel, and how to approach it. Afterwards, you don’t have to wonder if it went well or if you should do something differently next time. My guidance and feedback are scaled to your level of knowledge and experience, and I’ll be looking at the context, not just the numbers.

A coach in your corner

You have someone to turn to when you're unsure, something doesn't feel right, or you need to make a training decision. I’m invested in your training and goals, just as you are!

What happens when life gets in the way?

Your training isn't ruined because you miss a workout. You or your kids may get sick. Your work schedule could change. Maybe you didn’t sleep well, or your legs feel terrible.

Disruptions are normal, and life often does get in the way of perfect training. It doesn’t mean your training is a failure! The real value of having a personal coach isn’t about having the perfect training plan — it’s having the right support so you can navigate changes with confidence.

Often, we can prevent problems before they even arise. And when something in your life, training or recovery changes, we adjust in a way that keeps you on the right track.

“Training with Heini has brought so much joy to my life. It revitalized my relationship with running and my health and taught me that I can create new goals beyond meeting a certain pace. I like that Heini keeps it real in the best way. She is encouraging and celebrates wins, but also gives clarity on when and why it’s time to step it up a notch.”
Melissa, Michigan
“Heini consistently encourages me to listen to my body and consider how both training load and life stressors are impacting recovery and performance. If adjustments need to happen, there is never blame or shame — she simply helps modify the plan so I can continue progressing toward my goals in a sustainable way.”
Amy, Oregon

“Heini’s training program was thoughtful, supportive, and completely doable. She guided me through training, nutrition and race prep with so much care.”

How it works:

1

We start with a foundational meeting to dig deep into your priorities, values, obstacles and long-term goals. We talk about all the habits that support your training and explore what’s getting in the way of the progress you want to see. Together, we decide what to work on first.

2

I’ll create a 100% custom online training plan and add to it every 2 weeks. You share your workout data and notes after every run, and I reply with my feedback and guidance.

3

I always keep the big picture in mind when designing your training and providing feedback. We pay attention to how you’re implementing small action steps and how your body is handling the overall load.

4

We schedule a monthly meeting to review your progress and check on your goals. You have access to me by email and text whenever you need a pep talk, an answer to a question, or help adjusting your plan.
